Final Project_Ru Xu

I have a dream which is to become a Data and Graphic journalist. When thinking about journalism, normally, what comes to people's mind is a news article. However, recently, with the development of new technology, interactive data visualization and games are become part of news report.  I am a data visualization enthusiast, and my data journey begins when I was a student in University of Southern California. Nowadays, there are so many ways to visualize data, and D3.JS which we learned on interactive media class is only one way of them. Ru Xu final concept

As a graphics & data journalist, I am interested in exploring how to use interactive media to present stories within news articles. I became interested in this topic when I studied R language programming and use it to make data visualization graphics. I would like my audience to interact with this piece by D3.js on websites. I would like them to feel clear and attractive about data presented in news articles. Technically, I think these are the steps needed to test my concept: d3 concept learning, example pieces analysis, finishing my work. I have researched into a few similar projects, such as students work from lede program in Columbia University. I think in the next few weeks, I would like to use the class time to find out how to import the complicated csv file data to d3, how to insert d3 graphics to a news article, and how to make Topojson map using d3. Visually, I would like my piece to look like this student's work from the lede program from Columbia University
